Let's call it STC Model of SRE Maturity, where S represents Strategic, T represents Tactical, and C represents Cultural aspects of SRE implementation. The point is to go beyond individual metrics and identify disconnects that hinder SRE maturity as a whole.
It's simple. Measure maturity across three dimensions - strategic, tactical, and cultural. Each dimension has several parameters as outlined in the maturity sunburst chart. For each parameter in each dimension, there are four maturity quadrants - quadrant 1 is the least mature quadrant while quadrant 4 is the most mature quadrant.
At the end of an assessment, each dimension--strategic, tactical, and cultural--gets three things:
Baseline, which is a cumulative rollup value of each parameter's quadrant assessment
Roadmap, which provides a timeline view of when each parameter can move to the next mature quadrant if applicable; timelines are based on industry data
Backlog, which helps teams to bootstrap standard backlog items on “how” to move from existing quadrant to the next mature quadrant, though creating backlog items based on your own context is recommended
